MoU signed for rail-linked Inland Container Depot

February 18, 2010 08:02 pm | Updated 08:02 pm IST - JAIPUR:

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) and Kribhco Infrastructure Limited (KRIL) to set up a Rs.150-crore rail-linked Inland Container Depot with allied facilities at Beda Banki village near Hindaun City railway station in Karauli district.

The MoU was signed in the presence of State Industries Minister Rajendra Pareek and RIICO Chairman Sunil Arora by RIICO Managing Director Rajendra Bhanawat and KRIL Managing Director B. N. Shukla. RIICO will acquire 147.53 acres for the project.

Apart from the Inland Container Depot, KRIL also plans to set up a Free Trade Warehousing Zone and introduce agri-commodity warehousing to develop the area as a rural business hub. A cheque for Rs.64.79 lakh as keenness money (10 per cent of the tentative total cost of the land) was presented to RIICO on the occasion.

The Minister expressed satisfaction at the proposed rural hub to be set up in Rajasthan and hoped that it would enable Hindaun City to have its own dry port for export-oriented industries. He said the State was increasingly making efforts to provide facilities to investors and entrepreneurs.

Mr. Arora urged KRIL to identify other projects for being taken up by them in Rajasthan. Mr. Bhanawat said the proposed new project when completed would bring about all-round development to the area. Mr. Shukla informed that the organisation has the licence to operate private container trains in Category I for the entire rail network in the country.

KRIL is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (Kribhco).
