Film actor Monica Bedi and Independent candidate Pappu Yadav were arrested for violation of the model code of conduct at Belhar in Banka district and later released on bail.
The two were permitted by the authorities to land in their helicopter between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. for an election meeting, but they arrived only at 1:20 p.m., official sources said.
Later, they went on addressing the meeting till 1:50 p.m. much beyond the allotted time by the authorities, the sources said.
Their helicopter hired from the Deccan Aviation was confiscated by the authorities at Jhawa ground and they were arrested and taken to the Belhar police station where they were charged with violating the model code, the sources said.
“Since they were detained under bailable sections, the police granted them bail on PR bonds,” they said.
