Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Thursday said despite being in power for two years, popularity of his government has not waned.

“In our country, individual or celebrity or government reaches peak of popularity, but people start to turn away from them over a period of three, six or nine months. We have seen it happening. But for the first time, we are witnessing a situation where a government is showered with love and blessings even after two years in power,” said Mr. Modi, who addressed a massive rally as part of the series of public meeting to inform people about his government’s achievements.

“This encourages us to work hard. We are getting people’s support to take the country to a new high,” the Prime Minister said.

“In the past, governments used to think that they were running the government, they were responsible for welfare of the country and they would change fate of country. All have seen what have they done to the country. But ours’ is such a government which believes in Sabka Sath aur Sabka Vikas (together with all, development for all or inclusive development),” he pointed out.

“We have always tried that people should have participation in government process. People should contribute to take the development process forward. I am indebted to people that they have now owned all government schemes. When my government makes one step forward, people are marching ahead. It happens only when people realise that there is no malicious intention of government,” Mr. Modi said to a thunderous applause from crowd.

Prime Minister said for decades governments continued raising ‘ Garibi Hatao ’ slogans, the poverty did not come down, instead it went up. “Their poverty alleviation programmes had lost direction.”

“The NDA government’s only focus is to alleviate poverty. My government is committed to development of poor. No region of the country should be left behind in development process. Balanced development should take place in all parts of the country,” he pointed out.

Prime Minister said the Union government was designing welfare projects in such a manner that people will get liberation from poverty with the passage of time. Mr. Modi counted a number of its successful schemes such as Jan Dhan Yojna, faster implementation of rural electrification programme, Janani Surakshya Yojna, loan to poor unemployed youth without collateral and free LPG connection to poor people in his speech.
