Ministry of social justice extends date of nomination for human rights awards

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has extended to December 31, the date of nominations sought from individual human rights activists and non-governmental Organisation (NGOs) for national awards for the selection year 2010-2014.

The awards are for outstanding fieldwork in the area of eradicating untouchability and combating offences under the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955 and the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989.

There are four awards, one for each region.

The last date of receipt of nominations from the individual human rights activists and NGOs for national award for the selection year 2010-2014, which was up to October 31 has been extended to December 31, 2014.

The award is regulated by the Code of Procedure, which can be downloaded from the Ministry’s website, www.socialjustice.nic.in.

State governments and union territory administrations can submit to the Ministry, proposals of individuals/organisations for the said awards, with the approval of the concerned Chief Minister or Lt. Governors in U.T. Administration.
