Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Wednesday ordered the arrest of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA from Naraini in Banda district, Purshottam Naresh Dwivedi, who has been found guilty of raping a minor girl at his residence. The preliminary report of the CB-CID probe was submitted to Director-General of Police Karamveer Singh on Wednesday.

Three of his accomplices, Rajendra Shukla, Surendra Neta and Ravankar, have also been named in the report.

The report said that as per the statement of the minor recorded by the probe team, she was kept in illegal confinement in the MLA's house from December 8 to 12 last. While no sexual act was performed on her for three days, she was gang-raped twice on the night of December 11 and 12, the report said.

Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh told journalists here that after the submission of the report, an FIR was lodged against the MLA and his associates in the Attara police station under Sections 376 and 354 of the IPC. Mr. Singh said the girl was sent to jail on December 12 on theft charges, and the call details of the mobile phone recovered from her showed that the girl had made 150 calls from the cellphone. The mobile phone belonged to the MLA's daughter-in-law.
