: Thirty-year old Dhirendra Nahak, who allegedly sexually exploited a three-year old girl, was arrested in Rambha police station area of Ganjam district in Odisha on Monday night.

This crime had been committed in H. Burudi village. Both the victim and the accused are residents of this village.

Inspector in charge of Rambha police station Ramakant Mahalik said that although the complaint filed by the mother of the victim stated that the incident had occurred on January 10, the complainant had reached the police on January 19.

According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, on the afternoon of January 10, her daughter was playing outside the house while she was in the kitchen. Taking advantage of the situation, Dhirendra had allegedly lured the three-year old girl and sexually exploited her.

Her mother claimed that out of shock, the child had told her about the incident after three days.

There are allegations that some villagers had put pressure on the parents of the victim to suppress the crime, which had led to the delay in filing the complaint with the police. Meanwhile, medical examinations of both the victim and the accused have been conducted at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

It may be noted that on January 2, a four-year old girl had been allegedly raped by her neighbour at Mujagarh village under the Bhanjanagar police station in Ganjam district.
