The police in Kaimur district of Bihar are looking for a man who allegedly murdered his teenaged daughter on Tuesday.

The accused, a resident of Choti Deokali village which comes under the Mohania police station, had allegedly been sexually exploiting the girl aged 14. Her mother had died six years ago.

“Last year, the victim delivered a child who was sold for Rs.8,000 in Assam,” Superintendent of Police Umashankar Sudhansu told The Hindu .

The post-mortem examination revealed that she was pregnant at the time of the murder. This was a clear indication of rape, he said. “His relatives and the people in the village had beaten him up for his misdeed. On the day of the incident, he told his younger daughter that he was taking her to her grandmother’s place. He took her to a deserted place and strangled her,” Mr. Sudhansu said.
