Stressing on better law and order situation in North 24 Parganas district bordering Bangladesh, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today asked the district administration to take steps against cow smuggling.

“Today we held the review meeting of North 24 Parganas district. We reviewed the developmental work. Cow smuggling has to stop. All shopping malls and marketing centres should have CCTVs. The law and order has to be handled in a better way,” she told reporters after a review meeting in Salt Lake area.

The Chief Minister said employment opportunities for around 1.45 lakh people would be generated in the district in the next two years.

“Investment worth Rs. 45 crore would be made in small and medium scale industries. We’ll also generate employment for 1.45 lakh people in the next two years,” she said.

Ms. Banerjee said that several new flyovers would come up in the district.

A senior TMC leader on condition of anonymity said that the CM also warned against infighting among some leaders in the district.
