March 20, 2014 01:37 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:27 pm IST - Patna:

The Trinamool Congress will, for the first time, field candidates from Bihar in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

The party on Wednesday announced the candidature of Suresh Paswan from Aurangabad, Kapil Chaudhary from Gaya, Mohammad Zakir Hussain from Nawada, Vakil Ahmed Khan from West Champaran and former MP Ram Awadhesh Singh from Arrah.

“People want change”

“India needs a leader like Ms. Banerjee, who can take care of the whole country. Didi toppled an oppressive government in West Bengal. The people of Bihar also want change and they have expressed their desire that the party should field candidates,” Farzana Alam, deputy mayor of Kolkata and the Trinamool Congress’ Bihar convener, told a press conference.

The party has not taken a final call on whether it will field candidates in all the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar.

The CPI is contesting two seats, Begusarai and Banka, whereas the CPI(M), which is going it alone in the polls, will be contesting Ujiyarpur, West Champaran, Darbhanga and Khagaria.
