Trinamool Congress chairperson and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged here on Tuesday that “indecent comments” were made against her and a Trinamool Congress MP in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. She alleged that someone pulled TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar’s saree in the Lok Sabha when they were protesting against the “injustice” done to West Bengal in the Railway budget.

She described the alleged harassment of her party MPs as “unfortunate” and “undemocratic” and said she was “disgusted” by the happenings in the Lok Sabha.

“Indecent language was used against me. Bad language was used against my women MPs. My women MPs faced misbehaviour," Ms. Banerjee told journalists at Chanditala in the State’s Hooghly district.

Criticising the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government, Ms. Banerjee said “whoever is not in tune with them are being targeted.”

“Just because we are not in tune with them... they will do this. It is unprecedented how the CBI was sent to Raj Bhavan to question a Governor because he didn’t toe a party line,” she said.

Ms. Banerjee was referring to the developments in the Parliament where Ms. Ghosh Dastidar alleged that a “drunk” BJP MP threatened and verbally abused her. “Whatever happened is very dirty. They [Trinamool MPs] are all shocked,” she said, adding that some of her MPs had been elected for the first time and were very young.

“If they get such a jolt at the very outset of their parliamentary career, that’s not good. Everybody can seek justice in parliament.”

“I have the right to seek justice for Bengal. Similarly, MPs from Bihar and Punjab can seek justice for their respective States. This is a democratic right,” Ms. Banerjee said.

“I have received messages from Delhi journalists... I am aware of the language used. Silence is golden in this regard,” she said.
