Low lying areas inundated following heavy rains in Manipur

Most of the major rivers in Manipur are flowing above the danger level as a result of torrential rains in the past few days. Low lying areas in the valley districts are inundated.

People of the affected villages are staying at safe places. However so far there is no report of any casualty.

Ngamthang Haokip, the Irrigation and Flood Control Minister inspected the flood affected areas on Friday. He was accompanied by officials of the department. He told reporters that emergency help lines are opened. Besides the officials, employees of the department are on round the clock duty. Materials to control flash floods are stocked in all vulnerable areas.

Meanwhile, weatherman is forecasting more rains in the state.
