Lokayukta police on Tuesday raided the residence of a constable with the state excise department here and claimed to have unearthed huge unaccounted wealth amassed by him.

“We got a complaint of corruption against excise department constable Ramchandra Jaiswal, posted at Badwah in nearby Khargone district of Indore revenue division, following which a raid was conducted at his residence in Sudama Nagar,” Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police B S Parihar told PTI .

During the raid, it was found that Jaiswal has three houses, four land plots and 36 per cent stake in a hotel, he said.

Besides, five lakh rupees and jewellery worth about eight lakh rupees were also found at his house. Jaiswal also owns seven four-wheelers, including four trucks and three high-end cars, he said.

A detailed valuation of Jaiswal’s wealth is being done. During preliminary probe, evidences have been found of wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income, Mr. Parihar said.

The excise constable has been booked under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, he added.
