Leh coldest at minus 17, Srinagar shivers at minus 4.8

Jammu and Kashmir’s Leh town recorded the coldest night of the season on Friday as the minimum temperature dropped to minus 17 degrees while overnight temperatures remained below the freezing point in the Valley.

“Leh town recorded the coldest night with the minimum temperature dropping to minus 17.1 degrees Celsius.The minimum temperature was minus 16.1 in Kargil town.

“Srinagar city recorded minus 5.4, Pahalgam minus 7.6 and Gulmarg minus 4.8 degrees as the minimum temperature. Jammu city had 6.6 degrees as the day’s minimum temperature”, a MET official said.

The official said cold, dry weather would continue across Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours, but light rain and snowfall were expected at some places in the state on Sunday.
