Kamrup district prohibits illegal mining and excavation of sand

Under Section 144 of the CrPC, Kamrup District Magistrate Vinod Seshan has prohibited illegal mining, excavation of sand and silt from water bodies and any other natural bodies by any person and illegal blasting of rocks in the entire district.

The order also prohibited transportation of illegally mined sand and silt from other districts to Kamrup district or using Kamrup district as a transit point for transport of sand and silt to various parts of the State.

Further, it also prohibited movement of trucks and vehicles carrying illegally mined and excavated sand and silt within the district as well as out of the district.

The order came into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further notice, a government release said. - PTI
