JKLF chairman Yasin Malik talks to Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in Srinagar on September 6, 2017.

The J&K government on Friday decided to release all top separatist leaders, including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, who are planning to court arrest at the National Investigation Agency (NIA) headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday in protest against its recent raids in the State.

A senior police official said “these separatist leaders are free to go wherever they want”.

The decision comes ahead of Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to the State on Saturday.

The NIA has already clarified that they will not entertain the separatists since “they have not been summoned”, leaving it to the Delhi police to handle the situation.
