Intense search in Gujarat town

January 05, 2010 02:11 am | Updated 02:11 am IST - AHMEDABAD

The police launched a massive combing operation in Dakor on Monday following reports that a couple of terrorists could be hiding in the central Gujarat town.

If the report was true, the police believe that they could be the same terrorists who were arrested for the attack on the Red Fort and managed to give police the slip in Delhi a few days ago.

According to State Director-General of police S.S. Khandwawala, a pilgrim from Ahmedabad with her daughter visited the Dakor temple on Saturday when both of them noticed two persons moving around suspiciously.

They realised the gravity of the situation only after returning home in the evening when they saw pictures of the three terrorists who escaped from the custody of the Delhi police on the television.

The mother and daughter felt that the two suspects they had seen near the Dakor temple were the same shown on TV as the absconding terrorists. They immediately contacted the State police control room.

The State police took the input seriously and launched a massive combing operation.
