Independence Day celebrated with gaiety in Madhya Pradesh

The nation’s 65th Independence day was celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm all over Madhya Pradesh on Monday.

The main function was held at the Motilal Nehru Stadium in the Lal Parade ground where State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan unfurled the national flag and took the salute at a march past by various forces.

In his speech on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that terrorism would not be allowed to grow in Madhya Pradesh and added that the government had so far apprehended 100 activists of the dreaded SIMI.

Mr. Chouhan said Madhya Pradesh was known as a developed state now and pointed out that this year the growth rate of was expected to touch around nine per cent.

Congress MLA from Bhopal (North), Arif Aqueel took out his usual Paigham-e-Mohabbat rally in his constituency to mark the occasion.

The State Congress Chief, Kantilal Bhuria unfurled the national flag at the Congress office.

Those who greeted people of the state on this occasion included Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh, the leader of the opposition in the State assembly, Ajay Singh and the State BJP Chief, Prabhat Jha.
