HRS members held for hate campaign

The Pune Rural police have arrested a member of the Hindu Rashtra Sena (HRS) for spreading communally charged messages on WhatsApp in a village in Saswad, 40 km from Pune.

Sources said Suraj Shinde , an HRS worker organised a hate campaign on the social media against a minority community. He was also reported to have delivered a hate speech at Nira village.

The police arrested him as he was planning a social media campaign by authoring inflammatory messages inciting HRS workers to violence. Six others were also detained.

The right-wing outfit shot to notoriety after its now-jailed chief Dhananjay Desai and his accomplices played a major role in the murder of Mohsin Shaikh, a 28-year-old IT professional, at Hadapsar here in June last.
