Hearing three Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petitions on the Narada News’ sting operation, the Calcutta High Court on Monday constituted a three-member committee to collect video footage in which several leaders of West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress were purportedly shown taking cash.

The committee, comprising an officer of the rank of Inspector-General of State police, one official each of the CBI and the High Court, will collect the raw footage of the sting operation, along with the recording devices, from Narada News chief Mathew Samuel in Delhi.

The decision was taken by a Bench of Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice A. Banerjee.

The HC said the committee will decide the time for the handing over of the tapes by Mr. Samuel. These will then be given to the court.
