Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) headed by John Ferndes on Saturday passed an unanimous resolution congratulating party's national vice president Rahul Gandhi for his recent statement that 'Family Raj' will not be promoted in the Congress and instead it will be discouraged.

Addressing presspersons after the meeting of the Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr. Fernandes said he was happy that he had made a similar statement in the context of Goa after taking over as Pradesh Congress Committee president.

“I am glad that I have got support, particularly because this was a pronounced problem in Goa which led to party’s debacle in March 2012 State Legislative polls. We felt this problem more in Goa and you know the results in Goa,” said Mr. Fernandes referring to the sustained election campaign in which Congress was criticised all around for promoting “family Raj” by allotting multiple tickets to a few families.

Eventually the party faced worst of the defeats with many of the multiple family candidates of the Congress biting the dust. Outspoken Goa Congress chief also took the opportunity to publicly advise the seniors in Goa Congress to take rest and allow youngsters to come up in the party.
