Govt staff to get higher salaries: Naveen

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced that recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission will be implemented for the State government employees and pensioners with effect from January 1, 2016.

“My government has decided to implement the recommendations of the Committee constituted for examination of 7th Central Pay Commission report and its adoption for the State government employees,” Mr. Patnaik told press persons here.

About 4.5 lakh serving State government employees and 3.5 lakh retired State government employees will get enhanced emoluments and higher pension respectively, said Mr. Patnaik.

The Chief Minister said that the annual additional expenditure on this count would be about ₹4,500 crores.The employees will get their enhanced pay on September 26 as the Puja holidays starts from the next day.
