PANAJI: The Goa government on Friday procured ₹100 crore from the Centre under the Swadesh Darshan scheme for the development of coastal tourism circuits.
This is the second allotment of central financial assistance (CFA) within one year. The Swadesh Darshan scheme under the CFA of the Ministry of Tourism aims to fund projects with touristic potential due to the place’s history, heritage, cultural importance, and innovation.
“Proposals to develop river circuits, spiritual circuits and heritage and tribal circuits will also be submitted for CFA,” said MLA Nilesh Cabral, who also heads the Goa Tourism Development Corporation Limited and Goa Tourism’s special purpose vehicle.
While the initial allotment of ₹100 crore under Phase I for coastal circuit development is being utilised to develop the coastal belt in North Goa from Sinquerim to Keri, the Phase II allotment will be utilised to develop the South Goa coastline from Panjim to Palolem, Mr. Cabral said.
