The torso of an eight-year-old girl has been found in Orissa’s Jajpur district, even as locals termed it a case of human sacrifice.
Police said the headless body of the girl, missing from her home in Popal village since February 11, was found Wednesday evening from Ichhapur near Sukinda, 60 km from here.
The girl’s father had lodged a missing report with the police on February 12, they said.
Though residents of the area described the incident as a case of human sacrifice, police said investigation was still on.
Villagers said a tribal man of Ichhapur, known to be practising ‘tantra’ and black magic, was missing since the recovery of the torso. Local residents demanded immediate arrest of the man.
Additional police force has been posted in the area.
