In a suspected case of honour killing, a 17-year-old girl was on Monday shot dead allegedly by her three brothers who also set her body on fire for eloping with a youth in Khair area here, police said. She left her home on Saturday with a youth and returned on Monday morning.
However, no one from the family approached the police to register a complaint. Police will file a case soon, police spokesman Udai Veer Malik said.
Senior police officers rushed to the spot and a search has been launched to trace the family members of the girl.
