In a case of honour killing, a 19-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her father and other family members who were opposed to her relationship with a boy belonging to a different community in Baroda village of the district.

The girl was murdered by her family members on New Year’s Eve following a heated argument, SHO, Anand Mishra said on Friday.

The teenager was later buried by the family members.

Police recovered the body on Thursday and registered a case of murder against the four family members including her father Hasan, he said, adding the body has been sent for post-mortem.

While two of the accused identified as Hasan and Sattar have been arrested, two others were absconding.

The girl was involved in a relationship with a youth belonging to different community and had decided to get married. However, the family was opposed to the relationship.

Security has been tightened in the village and extra police deployed following the incident.
