‘Programme soon in Aligarh’

December 19, 2014 12:53 am | Updated 12:53 am IST - MEERUT:

After ‘postponing’ its religious reconversion programme scheduled for December 25, the Dharam Jagaran Samiti (DJS) on Thursday asserted that the Ghar Vapsi event in Aligarh will be held “very soon.”

Talking to the media, DJS western U.P. chief Rajeshwar Singh said: “After reconversion of Muslims and Christians at a mass level in Aligarh, we will organise Ghar Vapsi at several other places in western U.P.”

Visibly upset over the decision to shelve the event, the DJS chief blamed the Samajwadi Party government in U.P. for its “policy of appeasement towards a particular community.”

“The SP government didn’t want the event to happen because it doesn’t want to let go of its minority vote bank,” he added.
