A French woman allegedly committed suicide by slitting her throat after killing a seven-year-old adopted girl from Karnataka, in a rented house at Anjuna in north coastal Goa on Friday.

Police Sub-Inspector Vijaynath Kavelkar told The Hindu on Saturday that after the husband of the woman Sevorine Martin Dumand Figgere (45) called from Anjuna beach around 9.15 on Friday morning and said that his wife was not answering his call, a police team from Anjuna police station rushed to their rented room.

The police opened the door locked from inside only to find two bodies in a pool of blood.

The police conducted panchanama and sent the bodies to the government Goa Medical College hospital for post-mortem.

Parents informed

Mr. Kavlekar said that the parents of the girl from Bijapur, Karnataka were informed. He said that the husband, a French national, has given a statement that his wife was under stress and behaving in an odd manner for some time.
