French Forces Joint Commander in the Indian Ocean Rear Admiral Bruno Nielly is on a two-day visit to Puducherry and will make a courtesy call on Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh at Raj Nivas on Sunday.

According to sources, children of Santhosa Nanban, a non-governmental organisation, were taken on board the French Naval Ship BCR Somme, berthed six nautical miles from the Puducherry coast. They were taken from the Puducherry port in fishing vessels. Sailors on board the French vessel took the children around the ship and explained its features to them.

Earlier in the day, around 20 members of the naval staff visited the NGO. The sailors painted the premises and carried out maintenance work.

The ship is on a two-day visit to Puducherry, a release from the French Consulate here said.
