Four persons have been shot at by rival gang members in two separate incidents in Malda district, police said on Sunday.

Eight anti-social elements came on motorbikes last evening and attacked one Moloy Sarkar with sharp weapons who was sitting with his nephew on a bridge at Sattari area of Englishbazar.

When his nephew tried to resist them, they hurled bombs and shot at them, injuring the duo.

Police said the incident was carried out by a rival gang to avenge the handing over of their leader to the police on Saturday in which Moloy Sarkar was believed to play a role.

In the second incident at Kamalpur Bandh area in Manikchak on Saturday, two friends were shot at by motorcycle-borne three miscreants.

Police said one of the friends had been targeted by a rival gang.

All the injured have been admitted to Malda Medical College and Hospital.
