Incessant downpour over the past couple of days have triggered landslides and flood in various parts of Arunachal Pradesh, throwing life out of gear while most of the rivers in Lohit district have swelled up, threatening the towns of Tezu and Namsai.
The Dura, the Sukha Nallah, the Denning, the Tezu, the Lasapani and the Digaru rivers in the State are flowing above the danger level and threatening human habitation, Water Resources Department (WRD) assistant engineer S.K. Srivastava said on Monday.
Banks eroded The Digaru has flooded three dwellings while massive bank erosion was also reported.
Despite water level in rivers receding in Uttar Pradesh, five lakh people in 653 villages were still affected across the State.
According to a report from the Relief Commissioner’s office on Monday, as many as 4.91 lakh persons in 653 villages.
The situation however took a turn for the worse in Bihar, where two people lost their lives, taking the death toll up to 36.
