Five Maoists arrested in Narayanpur

The Chhattisgarh police arrested five Maoists in Narayanpur district on Tuesday.

“Maoist Bajaru Noharu, Mangatu Nag, Arjun Yadav, Amaru Patai and Sukhlal Potai were arrested and produced before a court on Tuesday. [They were all] recruited by senior Maoist commander Ramu, Vinod and Navin. They were working in the Maoist organisation for last 15 years,” Narayanpur district police said in a statement. All five carried monetary rewards on their heads.

Meanwhile, an exchange of fire took place between the police and the Maoists in Dantewada district on Tuesday. The Maoists fled, leaving behind a cache of IEDs and other material.
