At least four persons have died and six got critically injured in a bomb blast in West Bengal's Malda district on Monday.

The incident took place in the Baishnabnagar area of Malda, located in central Bengal.

The men were "assembling crude bombs," the locals said. Police is yet to confirm political affiliation of the men who were allegedly engaged in making bombs.

There is heavy police deployment in the area.

Baishnabnagar is adjacent to Kaliachak Block I, where a mob of many thousands turned violent following purported denigration of Prophet Mohammad in January.
