Eight killed in Gujarat bus accident

Eight persons were killed and 40 injured in an accident when a Gujarat State transport bus turned turtle in Saurashtra region on Saturday.

This is a second accident involving the State transport bus. Earlier in Navsari, 42 passengers were killed when a bus fell off in a river from a bridge as the driver had lost control hitting railing.

On Saturday, Upleta-Mahuva route bus turned turtle while negotiating a curve on a State highway near Savarkundla town.

Chief Minister Anandiben Patel announced a compensation of Rs. 4 lakh each to the kin of those died while directing the administration to ensure that the injured were given best treatment. She also announced that the State would bear the treatment expenses of injured passengers.
