Dissolve Jharkhand Assembly: BJP to Governor

June 09, 2010 05:46 pm | Updated 05:46 pm IST - Jamshedpur

The BJP on Wednesday appealed to Jharkhand Governor M.O.H. Farooq to recommend dissolution of the Assembly as no political party has the numbers to form a government in the State, currently under President’s rule.

“I will appeal to the Governor to convene a meeting within a week and recommend for dissolution of the State Assembly, in case no political party comes forward with adequate number to form a government,” BJP State president Raghuvar Das told a press conference here.

Mr. Das said he hoped that the governor “will not repeat the mistakes committed by his predecessors” and recommend dissolution of the Assembly immediately.

He expressed apprehension that horse-trading would be encouraged if the Assembly was kept under suspension for a long period.
