Development of ethnic groups must, says Gogoi

All round socio-economic development of different indigenous groups is a must and Assam government has created autonomous councils and development councils for each and every ethnic community, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday said.

At the same time the government was focused on generating gainful employment through development of skills and on creating employment avenues outside the government sector, he said addressing a two-day Assam State-level Choudang Samaroh in Jorhat.

He announced that the government will formulate a scheme for welfare of the Choudhang ethnic community.

He also announced the sanction of Rs 10 lakh for setting up of a training centre for the community.
