March 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated April 02, 2016 02:19 pm IST - New Delhi:

The Delhi Government on Wednesday requested the Central Government’s Department of Electronic and Information Technology to block the web-based apps of three major taxi operators catering to the Capital despite a ban on their services imposed by the Centre.

Delhi Transport Commissioner Gitanjali Gupta filed a complaint as per Rule 6 (2) of the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act – which states that no holder of a driving licence or a learner’s licence shall permit it to be used by any other person – against Uber, Ola and Taxi For Sure stating that they were still providing services despite a ban on web-based app transportation service providers across the country.
