Decks cleared for Panchayat elections in Bihar

Bihar government today gave its nod to conduct the Panchayati elections in the State from April.

The State cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met here this afternoon and approved the proposal by the state Panchayati Raj department.

Besides Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, several ministers also attended the meeting.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Additional Secretary (Cabinet Coordination Department) B K Singh said the elections will be held in ten phases.

The first phase of polls will be held between April 20 and May 28, 2011.
