Chit fund scam: Debjani remanded in police custody

Debjani Mukherjee, executive director of the scam-tainted Saradha group, was remanded in police custody till May 28 by a court at Baruipur in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district on Tuesday.

On Monday, she was remanded in judicial custody till May 31 by a court at Bidhannagar in the city on separate charges.

Ms. Mukherjee, accused in a case of cheating filed by an investor, will be produced before the Baruipur court on May 28, along with chairman and managing director Sudipta Sen and another company official. Counsel for Ms. Mukherjee demanded that proper medical care be given to her as she was not keeping well for the past few days.
