: Three hundred students of DAV pubic school in Berhampur have taken the initiative to educate 300 illiterates in the city.

This project taken up under ‘TEACH’ programme of Rotary India Literacy Mission was launched on Friday. According to project coordinator of this programme, R. Murali Krishna, 300 volunteers are from Classes VI to VIII.

There would be capacity building exercises so that these young children would educate one adult illiterate person above 15 years old in their neighbourhoods.

Odia teaching materials and study aids for this literacy programme have been designed in such a way so that they can be easily understood by these young children, who will teach illiterates for the first time.

The aim is to make illiterates read, write and understand alphabets, numerical and small day to day calculations as well as basic skills of verbal communication in Odia.
