Tension prevailed in a Haryana village after upper caste people stopped a Dalit groom from riding a horse-drawn carriage during his marriage procession and pelted the marriage party and a police team with stones.

SP Kurukshetra Simmardeep Singh said a police team was rushed to Bhusthala village and it helped the groom perform the ritual of ‘ghud chadi’ (riding horse) on Saturday night. This irked upper caste people who threw stones at the policemen and the groom’s relatives, he said.
