A minor Dalit girl, who was allegedly set on fire by neighbours last month in Gujarat, died of burns at the Civil hospital here on Thursday after battling for life for 19 days.
Following a dispute with neighbours over the disposal of dirty water, Chandrika Parmar (15) was set ablaze at her home in Syla village in Surendranagar district. She was brought to the hospital with 70 per cent burns and had been in a critical condition. “She passed away yesterday afternoon. The doctors told us in the beginning itself that her condition was serious. They said that they were trying their best. Her stomach and her entire body had swollen and turned yellow,” the girl’s cousin said.
