BJP president Amit Shah will be on a day-long visit to Lucknow on Tuesday. It will mark the beginning of a crucial week for the party’s State unit as two important events are slated in next few days, which include two-day State-level meet in Vrindavan at the weekend.
This will be Mr. Shah’s first visit to the State capital after taking charge of the party post.
Significantly, Mr. Shah’s was BJP’s in-charge of Uttar Pradesh for the general elections where the party won 71 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats on its own and 73 with its alliance partner.
Big welcomeElaborate arrangements have been made to welcome Mr. Shah who will address a meeting of BJP’s zonal-level leaders besides meeting State office- bearers at the party headquarters. Mr. Shah will return to Delhi in the evening.
The BJP chief is then scheduled to visit Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency, on August 20 where he will inaugurate Mr. Modi’s ‘jansampark karyalaya’ or public relations office.
The next day, he will offer prayers at the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple before leaving for Hyderabad.
In another important event for the party’s UP unit, Mr. Shah will open the two-day State working committee meeting on August 23 while its closing ceremony will be presided over by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. This meeting holds significance in view of forthcoming assembly by-elections for 12 seats next month.
