CRPF jawan shoots himself in Chhattisgarh

A CRPF jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself from his service rifle at his camp in the Naxal violence affected Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.

Officials said the incident was reported early yesterday morning when constable Tejvir Singh (32) of the 217th battalion of the force allegedly shot himself with his official INSAS rifle at the Central Reserve Police Force camp in Konta area.

They said Singh was on sentry duty when the incident occurred.

The jawan hailed from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh and was part of the deployment in the anti-Naxal operations grid in the State.
