The Bombay High Court on Monday ordered Pakistani singer Adnan Sami to vacate and hand over his house consisting of five flats on the 13th and 14th floor of a high-rise in Andheri to his estranged wife Sabah Galadari.
“The court has ordered him to move to his flat on the 12th floor. He has been given two months to vacate the flats he had gifted to Sabah Galadari,” Mahesh Jethmalani, lawyer for Ms. Galadari, told The Hindu on Monday.
The singer had earlier pleaded to the court that the flat on the 12th floor of the high-rise in Andheri's Lokhandwala area was in uninhabitable condition. “I have no money to give to the lawyer too. That is why I am arguing my own case,” he had told the division Bench of A.S. Oka and S. C. Gupte.
The singer had, in 2009, made a gift deed of the five flats on the 13th and 14th floor in the name of Ms. Galadari with whom he was staying then. After the two separated, she approached the family court in 2010 seeking right to live in her matrimonial house.
