Court asks CBI to probe land grabbing case

The Bombay High Court on Friday transferred a land grabbing case related to Mumbai-Pune expressway to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The CBI has claimed that the case against IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd chairperson Virendra Mhaiskar and 12 others is likely to be related to the murder of RTI activist Satish Shetty in Talegaon, Pune in January 2010.

The murder had caused an uproar. The High Court took suo motu cognisance of it.

The probe was transferred to the CBI by the court then. The agency apprehends that the activist’s complaint against the company and senior government officials had led to his murder.
