The Congress on Wednesday said it wanted the truth about the Saradha scam and reiterated the demand for a CBI inquiry.

“We don’t want witch-hunting. We also don’t want to comment against anyone without knowing the truth. We want a proper investigation. If CBI is entrusted with the probe, the truth will come out,” WBPCC President Pradip Bhattacharya said here.

A CBI investigation was all the more necessary as the the Saradha scam had spread far and wide with the involvement of many people, he said.

The CPI(M) had made a similar demand for a CBI probe monitored by the Supreme Court.

Leader of the Opposition Surjya Kanta Mishra, belonging to the CPI(M) had reiterated the demand for an apex court monitored investigation by the central agency.
