The pre-poll activity in Rajasthan's political corridors is slowly gaining pace with both the ruling Congress and the main opposition BJP announcing their poll yatras in Jaipur on Sunday .
Both parties have drawn up their yatra route charts to cover all 200 constituencies in the State's 33 districts. The BJP will begin each phase of its yatra from a famous temple of the State.
The ruling Congress will fire up its poll vehicle on Saturday, 30th March, which is the Rajasthan’s foundation day.
“The Congress Sandesh Yatra, beginning on Rajasthan Diwas, will cover all 200 constituencies in the state's 33 districts,” said Mr. Chandrabhan.
The three month long yatra will have Mr. Chandrabhan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik at the helm.
Together, they will be touring the State, spreading awareness and taking public feedback about the State and Centre’s flagship schemes and other welfare measures.
Mr. Chandrabha also declared that the party would celebrate 30th March as the “Rajasthan Development Day” in view of the State government's highly successful development initiatives, most notably the Barmer refinery.
The BJP will begin the first phase of its 13,500 km long Suraj Sankalp Yatra from the Charbhuja temple in Udaipur on April 4th under party State president Vasundhara Raje.
A decision to this end was taken in the party's State level working committee meet, which concluded on Saturday here.
Through the seven-phase yatra, the BJP plans to generate public opinion on the shortcomings of the Congress government in the State as well as the Centre. It will corner the Congress on unemployment, poverty, rising incidence of crime against women, agricultural distress and Naxalism, among other things.
“Constant updates about the daily activities of the yatra would be posted on social networking sites like Facebook, You Tube and Twitter,” BJP spokesperson Kailash Nath Bhatt said.
All seven phases of the BJP's yatra, being organised by party MP Bhupendra Yadav, would be kicked off from seven different well known temples and pilgrimages across the State.
These include the Charbhuja temple in Udaipur, Keshavrai Patan Jain temple in Kota, Ganapati temple in Ranthambhore, Diggy Kalyanji temple in Ajmer,Vishnoi pilgrimage Mukaam in Nokha, folk pilgrimage Ramdeora near Pokharan and the Khatushaymji temple in Jaipur.
