Chhattisgarh Govt. disburses scholarship to students

Chhattisgarh government has disbursed scholarship of Rs 12.42 crore to over 87,000 students belonging to families of tendu leave collectors in the state during the last fiscal.

“State Minor Forest Produce (Trading and Development) Co-operative Federation had introduced scholarship programmes for the children of tendu patta collector to encourage them pursue studies,” a government spokesperson said here on Wednseday.

Scholarship of Rs 12.42 crore has been given to 87,260 students in the financial year 2015—16, he said.

In 2014-15, 26,707 students received scholarship of Rs 3.20 crore, he said.

Under ‘Shiksha Sahyog Scholarship’ scheme, students from class 9th to 12th are being given scholarship of Rs 600 in every six months.

Besides, the meritorious children were given scholarship under Shiksha Protsahan scheme for pursuing professional courses like engineering, medical, law, MBA and nursing, the official said.

Under the Shiksha Protsahan scheme, selected students are given cash scholarship of Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000.

One student is selected from each of the Primary Minor Forest Produce Co-operative Society area. The selected students get a scholarship of Rs 10,000 in the first year and Rs 5,000 each in the subsequent three years till the completion of the course.
