The Delhi High Court on Friday extended till August 22 the interim bail of former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, his son and Indian National National Lok Dal MLA Ajay Chautala, and others who were convicted in the teachers’ recruitment scam case.

Justice Siddharth Mridul of the High Court extended the bail while asking the CBI to verify medical reports filed by Mr. Chautala and his son. Mr. Chautala’s counsel said his client had to undergo diagnostic tests for his ailments.

The CBI counsel informed the Court that Mr. Chautala had been shifted out of the intensive care unit of Medanta Hospital and admitted to another ward.

The High Court had on July 11 reserved its judgment on the appeals of 55 persons, including Mr. Chautala and his son, challenging their conviction in the case, which involved recruitment of 3,206 junior teachers in Haryana in 2000.
