Centre serious about steel plant in Jharkhand: Tomar

The Centre is serious to set up a six million tonne per annum steel plant with NMDC in Jharkhand despite stress in the industry, Union Steel and Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said on Wednesday

“There is stress in the steel industry but the Centre is serious to set up the plant in Jharkhand with NMDC in a joint venture,” Mr. Tomar said at a press conference here.

The Union Minister said the consumption of steel per person is 225 kg in the world, while in India it is only 60 kg and the demand for it will increase with the infrastructure development vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mr. Tomar, who was here along with Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Krishan Pal and BJP’s national secretary H Raja, said under the MUDRA Yojana 3.41 crore people were benefited with disbursal of Rs 1.41 crore of loan. PTI
